This is JR East's E8 Series Shinkansen (Bullet Train). It is the newest bullet train, which just arrived in the city of Sendai in northern Japan about a week ago. This train won't enter service until 2024 though as JR East is going to be doing lots of test runs to make sure that this train will be totally safe for passengers. The E8 Series is going to be operated at a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) going on the 400 km (250 miles) route, starting in Tokyo and ending in Shinjo in the Tohoku region of Japan. (Similar distance as Calgary to Athabasca.)
